I saw an article about a pub in Clemson ST where the owner posted a sign, um, unwelcoming CCW patrons... His right, I guess. Regardless of positions on CCW, the law around carry in an establisment serving drinks or the second amendment, what I find interesting is the social media impacts. The boom of 'reviews' is amazing! OK go ahead and Google 'backstreets pub Clemson sc'...Thoughts?
I've seen the sign. His right as a business owner but he should have stayed away from the personal attacks. That will probably hurt his business. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk
Bad decision personally calling ccw'ers ******bags in my opinion but his business . Just could have been more professional about it
The beauty of being concealed carry is it is none of his business if I am carrying in his " blue oyster bar".
Did you see what his sign said? If not, here it is. Notice how he calls out conceal carry guys at the bottom Yes, its his right but its our right to point it out as well. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk
This is discrimination based upon caliber orientation. Also, I read his sign as his signature being "******bag".
Yeah, the guy is probably a d-bag, but so are the people going out of the way to cause harm to the guys business. Don't like his policy or attitude? Go elsewhere. No need in trying to bring down his business. This is just petty.
considering only 27% of americans own guns (Gallup October 2013) and higher % of people think gun laws should be stricter than less strict, it seems like a smart business move.
Do you honestly think 100% of people who DO own a firearm will actually admit so? A poll like that is a joke. One of the purposes of owning a firearm is not blabbing it to the world letting them know you do. Now onto the topic, it's his business and also his right to say whatever he wants regardless of how stupid it is. I used to be more hardcore against people like this but it went against my libertarian views so I had to let it go.
You have to remember they're in clemson sc. I bet the gun ownership is well above the national average. Did a Google search and found 32 gun, ammo and pawn shops in the area. Doesn't sound like a smart business move to me. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk
This all just seems like pure hypocrisy to me. If they guy had posted a sign that these people had agreed with, but liberals did not, therefore liberals bashed the guy, these same people would be rallying around him. Just let people be. It's not a hard concept.
The business owner could have left the last line out and just stated that ccw is not welcome in his store. It is his business and right to refuse service for reasons only he in his current environment knows. Loss of business is not a smart move. He most likely has had gun toating customers that have him unnerved. Two sides of this coin. Most guys I know that have a ccw or carry do so with more discretion and for good reason. If you got it you do not need to flaunt it.
Is it evil of me to hope his store is held up soon? lol His right as a business owner, a dumb decision.... but his right to make said dumb decision.
Yea obviously, the group being welcomed are gonna be doing the rallying and the group being bashed are gonna bash back. I don't see your point. Tons of businesses are banning firearms without insulting those who choose to carry.
the real hypocrisy is that the business owner claims to be a CC permit holder and supporter of 2nd amendment rights. There is a constitutional right to carry a concealed weapon. It is also his constitutional right to refuse service to those people who exercise this right. It is also our right to refuse to patronize his business due to his views. Curiously enough, transpose the right to carry a weapon (which was recently affirmed by the SCOTUS) to the "right" to publicly express homosexual behavior. It blows my mind how libs can demand public and private tolerance of lifestyles and expression, but fight against the private (much less public) expression of a Constitutionally-protected right.
It's just hypocrisy. We bash people standing up for this that we do not agree with, but then rally around them when they stand up for things we agree with.
