Can you eat them? I don't know anything about hunting them or what you'd do with the fur or meat.

sure you can eat them. You can eat anything with 4 legs and fur. But from what I've heard, most African game taken by safari hunters is given to the guide's village to help them out.

Given that; since they're the closest living relative to american pronghorn "antelope"; I'd say they probably taste similar to that.

I'd kill one...or two. As long as somebody was eating it I don't have a problem.

Id eat one...but there doesn't seem like much of a difference between killing a giraffe and going out to the pasture and shooting a cow. So i wouldn't call it hunting, but id for sure BBQ up some neck!

I'd bet they're a bit more of a challenge to sneak up on than a cow.

Maybe in some places. Ive watched too many African safari hunts where they drive up with a jeep and pop em at close range.

Well... I agree... that would not be hunting and no, I wouldn't kill one in that way... without a good reason.

I know someone who shot one. There is A LOT of meet on a giraffe. The locals received all of the meat and the pic I was sent looked like something out of the Flintstones.

Giraffe isn't on my Africa hunting list but a bunch of other game is.. ..I would have went already but my wife wants to go also and take the children. So we need to let them get a bit older to appreciate it.
Thinking of doing a non hunting and then extending the trip and stay awhile longer on my own and bow hunt.

That's probably about the equivalent of a farmer driving a tractor through his field- the deer aren't alarmed and hang around. But what happens if he stops the tractor and gets off? They bolt.

Wonder if it's the same type of deal?

I wouldnt pay the fee...but assuming the trip is free and so is the transportation of the meat (I at least want some back home, the village can have the bulk of it if they need) then heck yeah why not!

Sure, if I had the opportunity, means, knew the meat would be used and I could try it...
