Confussed about dog poop

    So I looked up why my dog sniffs and runs all over before she poops. Seems the answer is to mark her turf and poop where she has before to keep the scent strong there. But, if thats the case, why isnt all her poop in the same pile? Sure would be nice, so I dont keep finding new piles when Im shooting my bow lol

    I just always assumed they were walking up a turd.

    Seems to work like a charm for me right around daylight walking through the turkey woods after a glass of juice or coffee...

    I think this is right, and they poop in a slightly different, but close spot to keep the crap off their feet and expanding their marked zone.

    My dog poops ON things... He'll walk in front of small bushes and shrubs, straddle them and step backwards onto them, leaving a deuce 2 feet off the ground in a bush.Craziest thing I've ever seen a dog do. He always poops in the fence crossing where the deer come into the yard.

    One good thing about mine is she does poop away from the house...but that happens to be where I shoot, so I lose in the end haha

    The reason thought to explain why dogs walk in circles around the same area before going to the bathroom or lying down is to align their bodies with Earth's magnetic field. They typically like to be in a North-South direction. Other animals do this too, I forget where I read it but it made me realize that somewhere funding is going to these studies :bash:

    I saw this too. It's crazy. Similar to how foxes use the magnetic field to hunt mice and other rodents.

    My dog will run on the other side of the garage or house so nobody can watch her poop. She won't do it if she knows somebody is watching.

    I have a very modest dog. LOL
