With satellite radio stations dedicated to each decade, I've been able to take stock in the quality of music over the past 50 yrs. My formidable years were the 80's (born in '71) and it's always been a forgone conclusion that the 80's were the worst. That stuff sounds pretty decent these days. I'm thinking that the 90's were way worse, with the emergence of the boy bands and mainstream rap. The best was the 70's because they just took the 60's and added a lot more drugs...made for great music.

    Best: 70's
    Worst: 90's

I was born in 76, so me coming into my own was late 80's-early 90's and I think THAT was the best music, its all age dependant.

True, but can you see yourself, now, popping in Nirvana's "Nevermind" (it changed everything, don't get me wrong) or a Vanilla Ice album? I get being nostalgic, but really good music has legs.

It's tough to decide if the 60's or the 70's were better. So many that were great in the 70's were heavily influenced by what others had done and discovered in the 60's.
I would say that it has gotten progressively worse as the time has gone on. The 80's tried but they couldn't grasp the feel of the 70's, the 90's tried reverting finding a happy medium, which worked sometimes, and then the 2000's came and things have plummeted, at least as far as mainstream music goes

80s is the worst music decade. It's not really close either.

Have you guys listened to contemporary radio? The answer is the 2010s; no doubt in my mind.
The majority of new stuff in any genre is almost unlistenable- and every single style has embraced the nemesis of the true artist- AUTOTUNE. Absolute garbage. I'm not saying that there isn't the occasional nugget (Bruno Mars is pretty talented; who knew that prior to the Super Bowl?) but most of it is just trash.

    60s, 70s and 90s are my favorites. The 80s, 00s and 10s sucked.
