You must not have read the book ...do yourself a favor...read the book for the real story....I saw the movie after reading the book....NO comparison
The movie was a huge letdown. Average at best. There was NO acting whatsoever...did we see the same movie? Couldn't hold a candle to Saving Private Ryan. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
Loved it. I cringed everytime they started tumbling down that mountain. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I537 using Tapatalk
Me and my gf saw it the week it came out. Was pretty good. Not as good as black hawk down tho Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The book is the ONLY way to really get the impression from that story, IMHO. Definitely gets the mind moving and puts a hell of a lot of things into prospective. While leaving the theater nobody said a word and everyone was holding doors for each other. It was eerie and refreshing.
The book is definitely the superior one. But the movie is also great but not the best. Wish they would actually show everything in the movie that happened in the book. But then we would be watching a 5 day movie.
I saw it a couple of weeks ago. I thought it was pretty good. But the way people had talked it up, I was actually expecting alot more.
I read the book and then watched the movie. While the book felt much more real I think they did a fair job turning that many events from almost a week in history to two hours on screen. For people who don't enjoy reading I think the movie conveys enough of the story to serve it's purpose.
Absolutely loved the movie. To me you cannot compare this to other war movies as some like to do, it is it's own story with it's own interpretation of what happened. If it were 100% fiction then I could understand comparing it's content to another movie. If you watch the after movie interview with the director Peter Berg and Marcus Luttrell you can see the little detail differences in what actually happened but in the end the basic story was the same result to reality. Definitely planning on getting the Lone Survivor book and the Lone Survivor Service book as well.
I wanted to see this in the theater but I'd have to drive 40 miles to get to a place that shows R rated movies. So, I guess I'll wait 'til I can watch it at home on my awesome 14" tv. In the meantime, I'll read the book.
I've read the book but have yet to see the movie. Like most situations like this the book almost always is way better then the movie. You'd never be able to put everything that's in the book into the movie and keep it within a two or even three hour film. If you look up anything about Marcus he was actually really hesitant about making a movie out of the book because he's didn't want hollywood to screw it up. Most of thd reason the movie was even made was the director wouldn't do it without Marcus being involved. They had a thing on HBO about the making of the movie and it said the other Seals families also approached Marcus to get involved in the movie because it was going to happen probably anyway and they also wanted it to be done right. Either way I'll probably watch it.
I can't believe how many people have been "moved" by this movie...it wasn't that great... Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
I read the book two years ago and was amazed at the power of the story. I couldn't put it down. Now I don't think that I have ever seen a movie that does the original book justice. But I have to say that this was the closest to accurate I have ever seen. Those of you that didn't read the book and just went and saw the movie, this wasn't a movie that made you want to be a seal because of how bad *** they are. It is a movie that is real and raw. This is the first movie that I have seen that gave a true soldiers representation of the true fear of being in such a situation. I think that this is a good movie to show the realism of what they go through. It also gave me even more respect for our soldiers.
