I know that we still have about a month of deer season left here in IL and I have not given up yet but I have to say with this cold that we are experiencing right now I am really ready to get out and start doing some ice fishing! Who all ice fishes on the site? Anyone every around Kenosha County let me know and we can hit the lakes!

We still need to work out a time where I could try it out. I haven't had a chance to call since Im working on finals stuff right now but that will be done by Thursday and then I have a month off. Next semester I have no classes friday either so I would be able to head up for a weekend too.

I icefish around Minneapolis locally. It's really poor fishing because people keep everything that swims. I fish the Mississippi near Pepin, WI quite a bit, some lakes around Alexandria, MN and all over South Dakota. I just got a new Showdown 5.6 this weekend so I can't wait to try it out!

Just plugged my vexilar in last night to charge, going to try to find some walleye this weekend.

We started back ice fishing last year so hopefully will get out a lot more this year. Mostly fish on Lake St. Clair & the surrounding bays in Michigan.

I spend more time on the ice then open water. Fishing the Winnebago system mainly and up north Oneida & Vilas counties.

We've been ice fishing for over 3 weeks here now in SW MN. Lakes are anywhere from 5-10".

Those are some very nice Perch. When I go to SD we keep 9.5" and above and can usually limit out.

I saw a couple of shanties out on the lakes already. Pretty cold for this time of year.

I love to icefish. Not exactly sure though how much I'll get out this year, I primarily pike fish and from what I'm reading there isn't a whole lot of big pike around here. I'd probably go walleye fishing if I could find a place with some better sized ones, but I'm usually a big bait/big fish type of ice fisherman. I just don't have much interest in catching panfish.

Fergus - From what I'm reading around here, while it's legal to ice fish for muskies in IL, it seems it's frowned on up here even if catch and release. Is this accurate?

Some lakes have a foot of ice already here in central Minnesota. I guarantee their already driving on lakes in northern Minnesota. I haven't been out yet as deer season is still going but once I get something or the season ends look out. I'll hit the ice at least 30 to 40 times this winter.

I'm getting back into it this year with my dad!! Can't wait! I've always enjoyed ice fishing more than summer fishing. We usually go up to Vermont once a year after some big pike or lake trout. My parents also live on a lake so I was pretty spoiled growing up being able to fish every single day I wanted to. I told my dad, you take me ice fishing again, and i'll put you on some deer...deal?

Put the house out last weekend in Alexandria, MN. I'm waiting for my Finals to end here at College then its game on for me the rest of the year. Maybe try to put a deer down some where in there too.

I much prefer ice fishing over open water. I think it's a combination of the following: I don't own a boat but own two nice houses and sonar, I'm way more successful through ice, and the beer stays cold.

I checked all my ice rods today, greased my tip ups, and charged up the vexilar and the aqua vu. Now I just have to find the minnow bucket and the time to hit the ice which should be between 8 and 12 inches by now.

Started my hard water season today on Lake of The Woods. We have a good 10" but a lot of snow on top which makes for some bad slush. Filled out in a hour and a half.

I ice fish the Ottawa river, but usually wait until beginning of January. Get anything from Perch to Walleye, bass to Pike all from the same location...
