Sounds like because of concusions, law suits, etc. attitudes are beginning to change about the game of football. A guy on CNN mocks us because we don't like dog fighting, but we allow our children to play football. Is the game of football over? A lot of professionals are claiming in 10 to 20 years it's history. I would be really surprised if it ever went away since it is one of the most popular sports in the US but hey the way this country is going ya never really know.
I have been a Die Hard Football Fan ALL MY LIFE! I don't care to watch it anymore. Gave away ALL my jerseys! Football SUCKS NOW!
They have been saying for at least 25 years that the sport of soccer will take over in the United States....no way that will happen!
No, it's here to stay. Most lawsuits are from former players who knew the risks they took and prided themselves on being tough, but are now pissed at the money being made and want a piece of the pie. If the league starts to loose ground, rest assured the players will shut that nonsense down before it goes away. Ed Reed said if he forgets things from time to time, and dies a little early...but his family wants for nothing and he gets to ball for a living then so be it. I like Ed Reed, he always calls it like it is. He also says every single player to ever play a down in the pros knows the risk involved.
There are already so many precautionary measures taken for concussions. If you get hit now and have "concussion like symptoms" you are out for 7 days from the last "symptom" then more kntop of that should it happen again. The former players suing is bs IMO because they knew the risk, would re-enter games after legit concussions. Its all to err in the side of caution, but football isn't going anywhere.
It's funny, there's other sports like boxing, MMA, and rugby, yet "gridiron" football is too rough. Makes no sense, it's political correctness and too many people playing victim to something they KNEW could happen when they decided to play the game. Will it be gone? Probably not. Will it suck so bad that less people will watch? Most likely.
Just seems like there is a lot of this in the news lately. In my little world, (by no means can I generalize what is going on by what I am seeing) we are seeing a considerable decrease in the amount of kids going out. One local town did not have a team for the first time in school history because not enough kids went out. I have always enjoyed college football and have season tickets for the Illini again this year.
I used to think the same thing too. I would have never thought there would be more high school kids playing soccer than baseball. Soccer/MLS continues steady popularity climb in the US - Hot Time In Old Town Again I am not a soccer fan and my kids have nothing to do with it. Changing times for sure.
This, to an extent. Before last year I hadn't missed a Bears game on TV or in person in eight years. The urge to be in the woods became stronger than the urge to watch football. Being able to follow along on my phone while I'm in the woods helps, but that was a big moment in my life (to me anyway) when I decided to go hunting over watching the Bears play.
