What do you guys do when your hunting in the rain? i am kinda scared of getting a 700+ dollar camera setup wet! I know I know none of you guys are stupid enough to hunt in a downpour! But i do and am wanting ideas for keeping my gear dry and yet would like to be able to film as well if possible
I take a milk jug and cut the bottom off and cut a slit running down the side with a handle and put it over the camera and arm. This way I have room for my microphone that is on top too.
Good idea! Does it allow for filming while its on? Im not sure I fully understand the idea, mb snap a pic next time u use it for reference? Sent from my Galaxy S4 using Tapatalk 2
I don't hunt in the rain. If a slight sprinkle starts I through my ball cap over the camera. If it keeps up I pack up and go home. I also keep a trash bag in my pack in case serious rain suddenly moves in. No hunt is worth ruining a $3,000 camera rig.
If I do hunt in the rain, the camera stays in the truck.. Like DEC I keep a trash bag in my pack as well incase a storm pops up.
I also keep a trash bag in my pack in case it starts to rain. I used to have a Campbel's camera rain cover for my old XHA1s, but it was a PITA to use. I actually ordered some sil-nylon and accessories and plan on doing my best Betsy Ross impression this off-season, making a custom fitted rain cover for my rig. We'll see how it goes. Also, if I know rain is in the forecast, I'll usually head for the ground blind.
I took my camera this fall to Colorado on a back country elk hunt, I went to ****s and picked up a small dry bag. It's cheap and I think I could submerge the camera and it wouldn't get wet. The bag folds up small and i dont worry about tears or rips. I use a Canon XA 10
What's ur opinion on this camera arm guys?
http://m.gandermount...ls.cgi?i=428426
Is it worth 40 bucks? I checked at my local gander mtn and the construction seems fairly heavy however im not sure about it only being a 2 piece... most of the 3 piece ones I've found are well over $100 Sent from my Galaxy S4 using Tapatalk 2
What are you using for a camera? That looks similar to the Pine Ridge Archery arm, and it's very shaky in my opinion.
I use a tree umbrella to keep the big off and had made a cover for the cam from material from a trashed ground blind. I steady drizzle yes, down pours no! It works great plus the tree umbrella keeps you dry to! Dosent seem to spook Deer!

I carry a bag with me large enough to cover my camera so if caught in the rain I can cover my investment. like others have said I avoid hunting in the rain if I can.
