I do a little reading on some small budget film making sites and these cameras are all the crazy. They are portable, offer production quality filming capabilities and now with the recent price drop are more affordable then even entry level dslr's. So has anybody seen these cameras used to film hunts? Seem like they would be perfect.

I've kinda looked at them, but certainly not an expert. I run into the same issue with these as I do DSLR's. Only manual zoom and manual focus on the lens. I've contemplated trying to video that way with my DSLR, but as a self filmer, I just don't think I could do it. $500 is an outstanding price though.

They are awesome cameras for sure, but given that nearly all the controls are via the screen, they are manual zoom, and manual focus ... they would be nearly impossible to self video with in the woods.

At the price point though they would make awesome documentary type of cameras for many hunting related projects.

I looked at them but went with a Canon 70D for a number of reasons, AF being one.
