Im looking for an affordable ($100 or below) wireless mic setup for this season. My shotgun mic works really well, but id like to have the wireless mic option for recovery interviews, can anyone recommend one?

SmartLav is a cheap route to go with your iphone. I think it works with other smartphones too. It's like $60. I think theres a free version of the app and a $10 version that has more bells and whistles.

I'll be giving it a try this Fall I think.

Fitz i read that SmartLav had some bug issues and was loosing recordings. Any truth to that that youve heard? With that you would have to go in and add the audio in post and sync up the audio to the video correct?

You do need to add the audio in post. Not sure on the lost recordings. I'm not too concerned because it'll be a second audio source to compliment my shotgun mic. Plus I plan to do multiple interviews so I have more to work with.

When it becomes more of a necessity, I plan to pony up the $$ for a real unit.

I picked up the Rode Smart Lav pretty cheep on ebay ... Haven't used it through a hunting season yet .. But am pretty happy with it for the price so far ... Just done a short film for a conference at work and it sounds great in the finish video project
