10 photograph panorama of the Iowa State Capitol Building dome.

So much detail captured from 3 stories down with an 18-55mm lens shot in raw.

Very cool. What settings were you using? Did you use the camera's built in Panarama or stitch all the pictures together yourself?

I stood directly under the dome and aimed about 5 degrees off of true vertical taking a photograph every small turn while holding the camera by hand. Ended up with 10 photographs to stitch. Shot at f/5.6 @ 1/125 @ 800. Used PS CS6 to stitch and it did a miraculous job!

From where I was standing to the the ceiling is approximately 250'. The banner reads "This nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth." This is part of Abraham Lincoln's Gettysburg address. At the top of the dome is the Grand Army of the Republic Civil War Veteran Medal with dates 1861 and 1865. I took over 300 photos in just over an hour. If you could not tell, this was my first time in the state capitol building even though I have been inside the U. S. Capitol Building on numerous occasions.
