Needing some help on which settings to leave my shotgun mic on, it keeps switching itself back and forth.

If someone could please help me by letting me know what the best settings are I would appreciate it!

I ask because I have been going through some film, and it has a throbbing noise throughout most of it.

The switch on top filters out low frequency. Could be good for wind noise outside to a degree and air handling inside. If you don't notice a significant difference either way leave it where it is. If the mic goes straight into the box in the second pic you should be able to keep it on "mic". Unless you have two microphones switch the M/S switch to M (mono). As for the G1/G2 switch it might be some sort of gain switch but without knowing what model the box is its hard to say. Do you have some sort of audio level indicator on your camera? Also, what do you mean when you say it "keeps switching itself back and forth"?

On the first pic, what I mean by changes itself is that the mic slides back and forth in the holder and the switch gets changed that way.

SO, for outside hunting do I want the flat line or the raised line?

Gotcha. That's probably relatively easy to address with some tape or some rubber bands to get rid of the sliding.

Bump, still looking to find out which setting it needs to be on for each situation.
