Best Affordable Video Camera?

Looking to purchase a new camera this fall to give recording hunts a try. I'm looking for something around $100 that can record HD video. I would prefer if it had optical zoom but digital is fine too. Again, I'm not looking for anything too fancy as I am pretty new to recording. Thanks for the help!

 

With a $100 budget you can't afford to be picky at all and your not going to get my features at all not to mention you are probably going to have to go with something pretty old and beat up. Your best bet is going to be looking for something on craigslist or ebay. The best you will probably be able to do is a used Handycam or something similar.

 

I used a canon point and shoot camera that had video capability for my first year. One thing may suggest is waiting a year and really thinking about whether or not it is something you truly want to do. by then you could bump up your price range and get some more features.

 

Yeah I would try and up your budget some. You are also going to need a camera arm. If its too much this year then save up for some decent equipment. You will end up saving money doing it that way.

Use your phone if you have to and save some money for better camera.

 

You'd still need a fluid head and a camera arm at the very least

I used a Sony Handicam cx 220 when I first started. I think you can get them new for around $169 now. It's not top notch but it will get you started. I have several videos on my YouTube channel that were filmed with it here is one of them so you can get an idea what it will do.

^^^I use this same camera and i works really well if you are filming for yourself but if your like windwalker and myself and put it on youtube and want the best quality you want something better i am actually upgrading next year to a canon G30 its pricey but to me is worth it!

 

The canon vixia is pretty decent, I use one as a 3rd camera that I carry with me but have filmed some awesome hunts with it. Search around you might be able to pick one up for not much more than what you're trying to spend.
