Went to store this weekend and purchased Rodemic Go and found out through experience that day that it does not work with my Canon G30. So my question is what external mic would you recommend for the G30? What about the wind resistant cover, any particular favorite? Thanks!
Get the Rode Video Mic. It will work just fine because it uses its own internal battery. I use it with my DSLR's and I have tested it on my Canon XA20 (essentially the same camera as your G30). The Go version relies on the camera to power the mic I believe and that could be the issue with your G30. I could be wrong, though I have never tried a non-powered mic on any of my cameras using the mic line in port. Rode VideoMic with Rycote Lyre Suspension System VIDEOMIC-R B&H
I have a Canon DM-100. It will plug into the micro hot shoe near the back and comes with the wind blocker. I like it because there are no extra wires hanging around and it does decently well.
