Not sure if any of you are on their mailing list, but Campbell Cameras are no longer going to be selling camera gear. Sound's like they will be gradually reducing pricing as the year progresses to dump their inventory. He's the letter I received:
Got it earlier also, couldn't believe it! DAMN! Hopefully I can snag up a XA20 or G30 for a decent "blow out" price!
I got the email to. Mam that really sucks! I wonder the reasoning behind it? Sent from my arrow using Mathews!
Kinda suxes but from what I am guessing they are making more on whitetail hunts and filming schools than selling camera equipment.
Wow!! That sucks, but the good thing is I'm just getting most of my gear. So I might be able to get into it a little cheaper!!
Online sales is so cut throat anymore, I honestly saw this coming a back when they expanded from camera related gear to hunting gear. Cambel's is a fine group and they put together some nice packages to make buying for the hunter convenient. But the reality has always been that if you knew what you wanted/needed, that places like B&H, Adorama, and Amazon offer better deals that can add up to big savings. Similar with hunting equipment. Anymore there are just so many outlets to buy hunting gear that it is very very tough for anyone to compete. You have to sell huge volumes at low margins to make any money at tall. I feel bad for them, but it is the way of online business sales these days.
I am not surprised by this at all. They got a lot of business by advertising and there show and people looking to get into filming there own hunts before. The last few years more and more people have been noticing you could get better deals thru places like B&H photo.
Campbell Cameras costumer service is second to none. I have called them many times with filming questions and any of their staff was more than willing to answer my questions.
So I am assuming that they decided to stay open. Just checked out the site and some good sales but still up and running.
Yes because if i ember correctly the email stated January 1st 2016 they would "officially" close. But i did notice their video school is no longer the "campbell cameras" name it some other company/name now
