Nice! Looks like a good Tom and a Jake there. My season starts in 11 days! I'm already twitchy thinking about it!

I've been seeing strutting for a few weeks now. Was squirrel hunting with my dad in Jan and seen sign in the snow of strutting. I start May 2.

Illinois opening day can't come soon enough. I drew a tag for a state park and we went and scouted it the other day and there were turkeys everywhere! I can't wait to get down there and probably get skunked!! LOL

sadly the turkeys in my area aren't as numerous as years past. I barely see turkeys anywhere. something is wiping them out fast. still a few around but slim pickings.

Sounds like some predator control is needed. We noticed a decline in our quail population and started "taking care of" all the wild house cats. We now have more and more covies every year. Kill every skunk, possum, coyote, and coon you see. They eat the eggs like candy. Especially skunks. They will break all of the eggs but only eat one or two. All other small foragers and predators will eat the eggs but skunks are the worst.

I have been seeing strutters all over from the most southern part up to central Texas for the past 2 weeks. And every one Ive seen has been between 12:30 and 14:00. Season starts this saturday and I have to work. Im gonna try to get a quick hunt in before I head to work. I got 4 tags to fill. Just need to get some invites so they are not all shot in the same area.
