I've got a couple Avain X Decoys...(Hens)....Just wondered before I got a another one if I should get the Jake Or Strutter for the 3rd decoy......

Will the Strutter be more effective than the Jake......

    Thanks

I've always slayed them with a Jake. For me I think they see a younger bird as a easier fight. I'm not a turkey expert that's just my 2 cents

I would choose a jake decoy over the strutter. As previously stated the jake around those hens is going to drive a big Tom mad

Jake for sure. Strutters work too but the Jake is a given.

In my area the strutters seem to work better.

I have had great luck with the Strutter. Have only had one bird shy away so far. But I think he was just a big sissy

I've had good luck with the strutter. I've had three big long beards all at the same time come running in over 300 yards to it... But I have also had a few that was scared to come any closer than 60 yards. I'm thinking about getting a jake fan to use for the strutter and see how that works.

Myself I like a big jake. Ive had a lot of birds that shy away from a full grown strutter decoy but with the jake decoy they seemed to come right in. All depends how strong the tom your calling is feeling that morning lol

    It seems it's a 50/50 toss up......But I'm leaning more toward the Jake I believe...Thanks for all the replies...Fellows...

Strutter works best for me in the area I currently hunt but the area I used to hunt the birds were shy and would not come in to a full strut decoy
