I was thinking the other day, someone should start a turkey hunting version of our Live from the Stand thread during deer season. It could get pretty interesting seeing all the different locations people turkey hunt, and seeing their success semi-live.

    What say ye?

I'm hunting roughly a 1/4 section of cut beans, bordered by a creek to the south. Nothing but crows in the field right now, but they roost along the creek behind me. The gobblers skirted me last night, but I switched it up on them tonight :tu: we will see how it pans out.

Not everyone is special enough to have their own thread

Got 6 hens in the field now, roughly 75 yards away

Truer words have never been spoken!

Hens ran off for some reason. Coon walked up the creek a bit ago, not much activity yet

Well they ALWAYS come into that field during the evening, and roost along the creek. So I sat up, put the decoys out, and called. But there's just so many hens right now that nothing is responding very well. I had 3 gobblers come into the field following hens, and they gobbled like crazy, but just wouldn't break away from the hens. Then they just left the field and my a single bird roosted where they always have for the past 5 years. I was puzzled to say the least.

Try pissing the hen off and making her come to you. Where the women go, the men will follow.

yes just mimic every sound of the hen and she will get pissed and come right into your decoys and the gobblers will strut the whole way in range

This is exactly what I did last week! I've never seen two hens so worked up in my life! First they came after my decoy which was only 6-7 yds in front of me then when they realized the decoy wasn't making the noise they came at me!!! Pecked at my vest and pack before moving around the tree a bit and raising hell. This and my calling brought the big boys in, struttin and gobblin directly into my arrow. REALLY wish I'd have been filming that morning!!!!! I've also opted to not hunt from a blind this year but instead use whatever I can find to hide in, so far I really like not being limited by the blind.
