Just curious what everyone's take is on leaving a trail cam in an area that you are hunting after season starts or a few weeks prior. Do you think the older deer steer clear of them? I hunt in PA so I am not allowed to bait deer so they wouldn't be coming to a mineral site or anything in that matter like summer time.

Interested what everyone thinks on this subject.

I leave mine out year round. I don't check them though unless I'm hunting a stand near it or walking in and out past it.

    Blessings.........Pastorjim

I leave them out all year or close to it (maybe a couple months in the winter). Never know when a buck might come wandering through for a photo op

Mine get left out and deer don't seem to avoid them. Get the same ones on cam throughout the season that did during the year. Only thing I change is the same as pastorjim and if they're close to a stand or not.

+1 for year round. I also only put mine on food plots or travel corridors. I stay out of bedding areas.

Put ultimate lithium batteries in and let it eat. My reconyx cams take 40,000 pics on a 12 pack of batteries. Just make sure you put the biggest SD card you can in your cam. If not it will fill up and you will be kicking yourself over what you missed.

For some reason Montana has decided that you can't have trail cams in the field during hunting season. I will be pulling mine in ten days when season starts.
