Happy days--- what a relief! UPDATE 8/26/16

Last year I hunted this buck hard and finally got a shot at him on 11/8.

Here is a link to the thread of that hunt

You can clearly see the scar on his neck from my wayward shot in these pictures that were just pulled yesterday.

What a relief it was to see him show up on camera!

The challenge I face is how to get close to him again and finish the job this time!

    ___________________________________________________________________________________________

Fast forward to yesterday 8/25/16 and a pull that made me smile!!!

Yep this buck survive another year. He has to be 6 or 7 this year. His rack is going down hill--- but he still is a dandy..

To this day he haunts my dreams!

What makes you think it's the same deer? The right G2 is quite a bit different, can't see the brow tines in the old pic.

See the scar on his neck--- I put it there. I have pictures of this deer for four years and his rack has went through some minor changes over the years. Also he has the same nick in his left ear..

Oh, can't see his left ear in the old pics. Just seemed like his right side changed fairly drastically with 2015's G2 and G3 now sharing the same base. It happens though and the wound probably played a big role in that. Marks, bare spot, etc...on their hides aren't very reliable, in general. Their brows generally keep the same shape and notches in their ears are of course pretty reliable.

I'm glad for you that he survived, good luck with him this year.

Well after 4 years of following this deer I am 99% sure it is the same deer. That scar is exactly where it should be on him.. Maybe I'll be lucky enough to get the broad head back when he gets harvested this year! Its a 2 blade grim reaper! :)

Haha, yeah after following them for a long while and looking through thousands of pics, we get to know them well enough to recognize them even without antlers a lot of the time. I have several that are that way. I often recognize them by their mannerisms and/or their body ratios. I'm sure you know what you're talking about, I just thought it would make for an interesting discussion for the forum since, technically speaking based on the pics in this thread, it could easily be misidentified by someone who didn't "know".

Technically your probably right - I could show you 4 years of pictures but Its not worth the effort of going through the archives to prove the point to me...
