Do you guys leaving your cameras out during winter conditions do anything to protect them from the ice and snow. I have always stored them in the house but would like to keep them going. Just do not want to ruin them. Whats your advice on winter setups?
By all means leave them out all year round...you bought them to enjoy them, correct? I'd say, Lithium batteries, but that will create a fire-ball...bigger than any lithium-ion battery fire! Good luck, MOBU
There are individual on BH board that are rather opinionated about the merits of lithium batteries and they are not shy about expressing their viewpoint. In other words, I have gotten "flamed" before for recommending lithium batteries in trail cameras.
I second the use of lithium's. I use them with no problems and they last longest in the cold IMO. I leave my cams out until just before the snow gets too deep to retrieve them. Sometimes I have left them out until bucks shed antlers. There are times when wind blows snow on them and I might get the lens covered with snow so I just clear it when I check the cams.
I always leave mine out all year. Some of them haven't been inside in more than 5yrs. I use rechargeables and lithiums, no problems at all. Blessings.........Pastorjim
