I don't know if this is a dog or a bear? I think a dog because this is the only pic I got and I feel like a bear would have been moving slower??? What do y'all think?
That's 300 yards from where I killed my doe this morning, never seen a bear up there before, even on camera. hmmmmm
I watched a bear in a field one evening and within 3 minutes of him going back into the woods, I watched a big buck come into the field not 100 yards from where the bear went into the woods. That looks like a bear to me too.
Looks like a bear with his head down, as mentioned. There was a bear down in my neck of the woods (5-D) a few months ago (on the news), where they just aren't supposed to be. It happens.
There's a good chance you'll never see him in person or get another pic. I had one coming in all the time and would only get a glimpse of his paw before he turned my camera a different way. This happened about 6 times and I gave up. We also have 10 to 20 bears where we hunt each year and only seem to see them when they are out of season.
I'm always reading how bears mess w/trail cams. What about mounting it higher up out of reach? Maybe in a tree too skinny to climb? Just wondering if they would tear down the tree to get at it. I'm just asking- I know next to nothing about bears, in spite of my avatar.
On a late season hunt in my area a number of years ago I saw a big coyote, which I got good video of. In 14 years of hunting this area, it was the first one I've ever seen, and haven't seen one since. I never even got one on a trail cam in the past. Makes you wonder.
I still think it's a bear but I googled wild hog images and came up with a few that had rounded ears...I've never seen one in the field before and all the ones I'd seen on TV had pointy ears so I didn't even consider that could be, I guess...
I've killed pigs before, but those were in South GA. I'm not saying someone's pig couldn't have escaped, but I would say it's a better chance of a bear than a wild pig.
