So I put out a camera in December of last year. I went to check it and change out the batteries this weekend. The batteries had dies around July 25th. Up on opening the camera it was full of what looked like dark mud and water. I first thought the creek bottom had flooded but nothing in the area showed that indication and the camera was mounted 3 ft off the ground. The battery plug had been removed from the bottom of the camera. I can't think of anything that would have put the mud and water in there but just wanted to ask if any one else had seen this. The camera I think is toast but cleaned it out and waiting for it to dry out. It was an older Bushnell Trophy Cam HD. Any thoughts?
Where are you located? At least 3' flooding was the normal level of flood water her in the Midwest. My bet is that you were submerged in water for some times.
Virginia. And no major flooding so I am stumped. It looks like it might have been submerged but vegetation and debris don't indicate that.
Yup card had 8000 pictures. Slapped it in another cam and good to go. The old roadbed was full of movement. Once temps got above 80 the bushnell started taking pics every 30 secs. Was impressed battery lasted that long.
Shouldn't there be pics of the water coming up if it had flooded? Or did the batteries maybe die before that happened?
Well we have a couple cameras that have bad seals and fill with water when it rains. The mud could be from rain water and dirt on camera? Or Bigfoot is messing with you
