Nice! Your uncle is right. I try and space my cam checks out to 3 weeks during preseason. I love seeing deer on camera in July and August but I'd rather see them under my stand in October and November. If the cameras are on a field edge and you can check without intrusion you can get away with more. Mine (and it looks like yours) are on a trail right smack in the middle of the woods. Best to stay out as much as possible.
I think it really depends on where you put the cameras. You don't want to be blowing through prime buck territory ever to check your cams. Focus on putting the cameras in fairly easily accessible places that the provide minimal impact on the hunting area. If you watch Midwest Whitetail, Bill checks his cameras pretty often but they are generally placed in areas where the deer would expect some human activity. He drives right up to them to check and has big bucks on them all the time. He's not tracking through his buck bedding areas to get to the cams though. I have most of my cams on fringes of timber or areas of a trail that I can access without walking thought my sanctuary areas. I also check them less often than I used to, but that's mostly due to me being too busy to check them too often.
