Here is a picture that was on one of my cameras. This is in Central WI. The mineral block in the picture is about 9" tall for comparison.
I've never seen either first hand but from pics I've seen I'm guessing a male fisher. I don't think it's big enough for a Wolverine and the color seems too uniform for a wolverine also.
Looking at the WI DNR website I'm leaning towards a River Otter. There is a creek within about 1/4 mile. It says a Male fisher might reach up to 15lbs, where a female otter can bet 19lbs and a make can reach 25lbs. That mineral block is 30lbs. 9"x9"x10".
I've seen fisher and the ones that I have seen were all much smaller than that. Color is a question but with the night picture it makes it hard to get a true reading.
Otter definitely could be that animal. They don't travel a long ways from a river but 1/4 mile is definitely within their range.
Fisher. I also am in Central Wisconsin and get them on camera here and there. Not often really. I had a smaller one and one bigger then that. Cool catch no doubt.
