Any thoughts or feedback on cell cams that can send pics to your phone? I've got a couple areas that I'd love to setup cams on this summer but don't necessarily want to stink the place up pulling cards. Anyone have any experience they can share?
No experience on my end due to the high cost and recently discovered high traffic on the land I hunt. I can get at least 3 good cameras for the price of one of these units.
I bought one but did not have enough cell signal to send a picture where I hunt. Make sure you have enough cell signal before you purchase before you buy one.
Covert? did you have a extender? Make sure you get the solar panel with it also if you are going to be purchasing one. Batteries go pretty quick
I have a Covert 3g. It's still sitting in my living room. I have to figure out how to set it up and just had too many other things on my plate. How long do the batteries last?
using Tenergy rechargeable I am only getting a couple weeks and that's taking roughly 70 pictures a day
I have the Covert Code Black and it eats batteries up in like two weeks. I did add energizer recharge power plus batteries and a solar paneling so far we are on week number 3 and still holding at 7. The main thing is making sure you have a good signal. You can test it out by getting a Go Phone and sending a pic through text message. If that works the camera will work. Getting the card setup was a hassle. If you go Go Phone its quick and painless but more expensive than adding to your plan if you already have AT&T.
If I put it on the right side of the mountain I get full bars on 4g. So that should be fine in my case. Having to hike up the mountain every two weeks will kind of bite tho'. Lol Hey Pat, I have a non-covert camera that will drain batteries in the living room, even when turned off.
If you need help getting the card setup just PM me I will do what I can. once that part is done everything else is easy. You will need the solar panel though if you want to leave it for a while.
Thanks! We have a 'spare' cell phone that I'm going to pull the card from. I'm hoping that works. LOL
Had a buddy using them and he found out the hard way that they are expensive. It on on some plan where you get "X" number of free pictures each money. Well, he has one of the best farms I've ever seen and he greatly exceeded whatever that "X" number was and it was like $.10/picture. Camera didn't last long.
I'm planning on getting one before too long. I see the USA trail cam is through Verizon, so I believe I will give that a try at some point.
^THIS^ I have one, but the cell signal is very poor where I want to use it most. I am moving it to Property #1.
