So....yeah. Not a 180ish like Baconator but RD as many of you know haunts my nights and controls my days in the woods. 3rd year I've chased this beast of an 8 pointer. Well Tuesday I was gonna hunt instead of playing league softball with my tourney team....but I was told they didn't have enough to field a team....so with it being early in October I played instead of hunted and decided I'd hunt Wednesday which I did.

Last night pulled the card and bam.....less than 24 hours earlier, in legal light and this picture is 15 yards from stand and the way he walked would have given a 18 yard broadside shot. I love and hate cameras....as I love and hate this long journey this buck has put me through. Someday I pray it comes together...

Wait...so Ty that's good right? It confirms RD wasn't poached...because that's the evening of the infamous camera check/blood trail. Right?

I feel your pain man. Last year I was planning on doing 3 all-day sits in a row. I wimped out on the second day and when I checked the card on the third day when I was in there, no fewer than 4 shooters had passed within 20yds of the stand. Curse you trailcams!

    Blessings.........Pastorjim

Correct if he'd been killed he wouldn't have been on his feet here (as pictures were from 4th and 5th)

Dude...I want to take my cameras down now. I was going to hunt yesterday and I have a camera on a mock scrape 30 yards from my stand and now you'e got me afraid to check it this weekend when I hit the stand.

It's the beauty of hunting....as hard as it is to get through to my heart and mind it is moments like this that make it what it is....and whether I end up sticking him or not I am thankful for all these chances added to the story.

That is very true. Hunting is more than just the harvest, it's the adventure, the comradery with fellow hunters, and the time spent admiring the woods in serenity.

 At least you know he is still around, and didn't get ran off by all of the commotion. You'll get a chance at him eventually.

I was hunting just across the field not more than 200 yards from where this buck was standing :( the neighbor shot him and I heard he scored 203".

Was hunting this buck hard in '12. Killed my buck that year set up hunting this guy. When this picture was taken I was in the other side of the thicket he was coming out of it, where I suspected he bedded. 2 weeks later I had him in my scope during gun season but could not get a clean shot, he was killed 2 days later. Was to supposed to of scored in the low 160's as a 7 pointer (busted brow), with 15" & 14" G2's. This guy wasn't even the biggest I had on camera that year, but I'll never find another one like him.
