No, I've not changed to using a crossbow. Just a play on words because the buck I named Crossbow is still hanging around the three mile property. Got these on this mornings card pull. Don't mind the time and date being off, AM is PM and viseversa and the day is off by one.
Man that is a nice buck. I hope sombody puts an arrow in him this year so you can get some up close shots to post
I hope that someone is me too! Isn't that cool?! I've never seen one with such a big frame do that. I've seen several small frame bucks do that but nothing like this guy. I would love to lay a tape on those things to see how long they are. I'm thinking he may score up in the 400 range. No, not really. He's awesome though anyway.
So what do you think he's gonna score Covey? This is just a shot in the dark but I'm thinking low 160's.
Dunno, honestly I hadn't thought about it. I decided I wanted him on the wall the first time I saw him and figured I didn't care what his score was. I'll let ya know what the score is when I convince him to let me lay a tape on his antlers.
I hear ya there. It wouldn't matter to me in the least bit. He's a stud. I just like guessing for the fun of it. If you figure out how to convince him to let you shoot him let me know cause I can't seem to figure it out.
Okay so now I am curious, not that it matters, he's still my singular goal this year. I took a pic and plugged it into the buckscore program. I can tell already the program is sadly short on some of the numbers as it has been every time I checked it against officially scored deer I have on the wall. It has a real problem with accuracy from foreshortening. It can't take into account lengths moving away from the camera or accurately account for one antler being further away. I guess it matters in so much that a legitimate Booner has been a lifelong goal of mine. I just never thought this deer had a lagitimate shot at scoring that high. Maybe he doesn't, I can't really honestly guess his score because I don't really have anything to compare him to, I've never seen one with that kind of frame and tine length in that particular configuration. I know he'll make 160 easy enough, what is there above that mark..I can't guess and beyond that, if he does stop at 160...big deal I don't care. To me he's the coolest looking deer I've seen on our properties since last year with great character and those crossing mains make him unique so that's the most important thing to me.
