Just pulled a card from a Covert MP8 I placed in a new spot on the other side of the three mile farm several days ago. I had a camera there last year but it's so far back I pulled it out just due to time restraints. Had some boss' bucks on it last year and probably this one too but while he had the frame last year he didn't have the tines he has this year. I'm aging him at 7 years old. Believe I have named him "Boom" just because it was literally the first pic on the card and it was like an atomic bomb going off in my face when I opened the file. Big boys are showing up finally.
Yeah our deer tend to get big here. Some are naturally bigger than others and this guy is one of those that just looks huge even for here. Kinda like the young one I named Gnurley who's now 3+. Check him out standing next to this boss buck feeder which is ~6.8 to the lid. Here's a straight on shot of Boom:
I bet there's no loading him in the truck by myself without the tractor and loader. Here's the pic from last year that I thought was probably the same deer but it may not be. The article from Charles Alshiemer shows that mature bucks can change point configurations from year to year and I think that may be the case here. This is the only pic I got of this deer last year before I moved the camera.
He is a real good deer. Is that the only pic you have of him? Now that you know he is there will you add another camera to the area to try and pick up a travel pattern or anything?
