I run the majority of my cams on 32GB cards but I have several 4's, 8's and 16's also. I was cleaning off some old pulls from earlier this year and going through saving a few off each card. As I watched the dates and pic count on these cards, I couldn't help but think that 32GB, for most usage, is a bit absurd. I had a few cams out from early march 2014 until 7/14/14 over feed and mineral and they averaged about 2800 pics each the busiest one had about 3600 pics on it while one had 900+ video clips on it.

Seriously, I think that most of the time a 32GB card is stupid overkill if a person is running very many cameras. At the price they charge for the darn things it's not a very fiscally responsible choice. Realistically, an 8GB card would have been fine on any of the cameras except perhaps the one and a 16GB would have been worlds enough.

Things a person thinks about when you have 17 cameras out and carry double cards for quick change out....

I have 16GB cards and I can take over 7k pictures with my coverts. I like it because during the pre-rut and rut I can run video mode and not worry about filling the memory.

Yep, the two new Covert 8MP blacks I got last week only take up to 16GB cards. When I saw that fact upon ordering I was thinking well they aren't quite as good as my Moultrie M-880's in that category but probably Covert realized the same thing I just did that 32GB cards are mostly unnecessary in most cases.

Larger cards are good for video and plot cams mode

I run all 4 GB or 8 GB but do have a few 16 GB mixed in security cameras.

I was actually just wondering about this today. I run mostly 2 gb cards but check my cams every 2 or 3 weeks. They're sometimes full during that time but I have one 8 gb that is never even close. I'm planning about the middle to end of August to check them one final time and then let then soak until Oct 1 to stay out of area before deer season. Was trying to figure out what size card to put in for that time. Sounds like don't need to go much bigger than 8 or maybe 16 in busy area.

I do agree though 32 seems a little extreme so its good that you guys kinda confirm that ha.

    I have 2-16GB cards (only 1 16GB). I need to buy a couple more and they'll probably be 8s.

An 8gb is a good match of price and storage.

I do video on 99% of my trailcams so I mostly use 16 & 32gb cards. I do like the fact that the Coverts will overwrite a video if it happens to get full.

I've been buying 16 GB cards. I let my cameras soak longer then most. Typically 6-8 weeks. It puts me at ease knowing I won't ever run out of space.

run a mix of 2-8 here. Prolly have 75% 8gb. I will put the 2's and 4's in cameras that generally don't have much action.

I do have a couple 16's but they don't get used very little.

I would hate to buy 2 32gb cards for all my cameras... took me a while to wanna spend the money for the 8's through amazon.

I run 8 gig, 10 class SD cards in my cameras. If you want to record video, you will want to pay attention to the classification of the cards you are buying. Anything speed class 6 and above have a good write speed, and perform the best video capture. They are a bit more money up front, but they will produce the best quality HD video.

I have a couple 16 gig cards too, but they are overkill IMO. But, they were free, and class 10 cards, so I use them. I also like a good quality card, and have had good luck with Sandisk brand. They make good cards, and like anything, you get what you pay for.

I run 8GB's. I am like you Covey I have double so I just swap out cards in the field. My next camera buy I will get a couple 16's because I am going to set one up for nothing but video.

Most of ours are 8GB but we do have a few at 2GB. Most of the 8GB ones I get at the Dollar Store. They go on sale and I buy them out! My problem is in the winter I place the SD cards into my regular camera - then fill it - and have a hard time giving them back!

I mostly run 4 GB cards. I have a couple 8GB ones, but for whatever reason I can't get my Bushnell to work using some of the 8GB. The set up won't work. I pop in the 4 GB card, works like a charm.
