Things are looking good on the trail cams so far this year, bit of a teaser...just the one pic for now. Lots of fawn pics and lots of nice buck pics. Looks like the last fawn dropped around 6/29/14 from what I have seen so far. Bucks are looking fantabulous.
Ha, the deer looking at the camera I recognize. I had a face to face encounter with him last fall. I was putting up a new ladder stand back off one of the bean fields and all at once felt like I was being watched...I mean that feeling hit me like a hammer all at once, I looked around and he was standing just outside the brush behind me and looking me up and down, lol. I didn't want to spook him so I stood there holding that ladder up for seemed like ten minutes. Pretty sure he was 2.5 last year and three now, he gained a little over last year but I have a feeling he'll really explode between now and five and a half. The one far away in front, I believe is the tall ten, can just barely see part of the left side, the other two in the middle have either blown up beyond recognition or are new as I could not positively identify them. This is just one the MO side of the state line, the cameras on the KS side had gone dead back in early June and all I had on them were does, fawns and several bucks with unrecognizable velvet. I put the cams back out in March and some I just replaced batts in, after planting season got here I just let them ride until now. I've still got about 900 video clips to look through, lol.
Me too! One of the cams I reset yesterday is on the west field where I always got pics of two particular bucks, one I named Two Towers and the other Meat Hook. I think Two towers has potential to make a 150's mainframe 8 this year and Meat Hook is definitely old enough to target if he is still walking around. I have not seen either one of them yet but I did find a shed from Two Towers and had both on film in Feb. We'll see what the new camera set reveals. I had to completely setup a new set over there because the tree in the fencerow I had been using got torn out by a tornado in April. The trail camera survived and then was stolen.... I think the only one of the four that may be old enough for harvest this year is the one in the middle facing straight away. Sometimes it sucks having "standards".
Here's a couple more from the farm here at home, different farm and deer from the first pic in the OP.
