Is it ok to post big buck pictures? What is big? You are the judge, whatever is big to you. I know some hold back and others show everything. What do you think?

I share all of the big buck pictures I get unless I am hunting somewhere and they ask me not too which does not happen very often. BIG is relative to where you are hunting and who it is, everyone has different ideas of that. When I lived in PA years ago a basket 8 was considered huge by the people I hunted with but here in the Midwest if you are saying huge it better be a big boy or you will get some crap :) I still think the BBD posts and texts are WAY over used though

Why would it not be ok unless you get pictures where the landowner doesn't allow?

Are you referring to what people call big, or just big bucks in general?

"What is big? You are the judge, whatever is big to you. I know some hold back and others show everything. What do you think?" - As posted above. Don't get too hung up on the score. Focus more on what you consider big or what you are pursuing.

You should start another poll some where and have different size's for every 10 inches and see what people do consider big. I would start Under 120", 120"-130" and so on.

You think that guys sharing their buck and story are overused?

If these were not shared I would stop by a whole lo less than I do. Best part of the forum IMO.

I will always share my pictures because a lot of guys here are knowledgeable and i can gain information about their past encounters with mature bucks and some good information about how to hunt them. It is also fun to see others bucks and compare growth rate of bucks in different regions. People get worried about people coming to their property after seeing pictures. I can see where this might be an issue but since we live on our property we patrol our property enough with cameras and actually being on the property that we never have had an issue. If we were talking about a lease or property that you aren't on all the time then i would be a bit more cautious of the pics i post. Most of the time i don't put buck pictures on facebook or twitter. i only post pics here.

I say it doesn't matter---although I voted yes in the poll cause I like to share great cam pics of big bucks..

I know a lot of guys hold their best pics close to the vest for fear someone will find out where they are hunting and try to slip in and knock off the good ones.

I just have never seen how anyone could figure out where my pics were taken unless they were family or friends that I hunt with. If that is the case they are already hunting the place anyway.

I've posted most of mine in the past, I don't really have anyone on the forum that's close to me...that I know of. I don't post them on FB or anything other than this forum, call me naive but I trust most of the guys on this forum anyway. If I were to get several bucks over 200" then I might hold those back just because that would be way above average and something people may target harder to try to piece together the location, then again I might just lie about where the pic was taken. Lol.

Unless a hunter lives in an area where they have issues with poachers or tresspassing I don't think its a big deal to post pics of big bucks. When I post pictures I don't hold back if its a quality picture because thats something to be proud of especially if you are trying to manage land and grow bigger deer.

Either I typed it wrong or you misunderstood me. I love all of the threads about what everyone shot no matter the size. I just think the BBD in the title or texts is over used.

I see where you were going with that now... You were talking about the acronym usage, not the threads.

Yes I would post pics. I love seeing pics and hearing stories behind the hunt, also I love sharing my own hunts with others that like to hear them. This is a big part of hunting to me, and one of the biggest reasons I am on this forum. I don't think I could see anybody going after a deer that I would post pics of because they are no were close to the size of the deer out in the Midwest. The biggest buck I have ever seen on stand was just over 150" and that was after 20 years of hunting. That deer was a monster for my area, not only because his rack size but also he was a 6 year old deer.
