So I was ordering a Stic N Pic earlier this week, and as occasionally (very occasionally) happens I got to thinking..... I could totally throw together something similar with crap I already had laying around. So.... I rounded up a chunk of scrap aluminum and made a lil bracket, a couple cuts and tacks on some rebar and wallah........ took about 30 minutes total and MAYBE have $4 in it. Works good to and it is already in the creek with a Covert on top
Possible to get a closer up pic of the mount itself? We have hundreds of rebar fence posts at our farm that I could easily do something like this.
Ya I could do that but it is super simple. Just a .5in thick piece of aluminum cut about 1.5in wide and 4in long, drilled a 5/8in hole for the rebar to go through then drilled and tapped two holes the same size as the cams existing tripod mount threads. One to seat the cam and the other to tighten to the stand. Then just rounded all the edges some, was gonna hit it with some paint but said screw it... wanted to get it out and see how well it worked.. Stand is 4ft tall total.
Nice, I built something similar awhile back but I didn't go this far. I just used a fence post, some L brackets and nuts N bolts. It worked really well but yours has sturdy base unlike mine. Sent from my iPhone
Great idea. Will be forwarding this to our manufacturing teacher. I don't have a die and tap set, nor have a I welded in a few years, but they could throw them together in no time.
Very nice. Wish I knew how to weld. I was actually trying to create one similar to the stic n pic, but then got bummed out after finding out about their site.
TJ how about you make me 2 and bring them to the GTG! Maybe then I will let you camp with the rest of us!
