Other than being able to shoot a vane instead of fletching, is there any real advantage to shooting on a raised rest?
Probably more a personal choice. If that style rest interests you then give it a try. If you shoot instinctive keeping the arrow as close to your hand as possible is an very important. I shoot off the shelf, if set up correctly it does very well and I don't have to deal with the arrow falling off the arrow rest or the rest coming off the bow. Like I said, it's mostly a personal preference.. chris
I shoot off the shelf and haven't had any problems. I haven't ever shot with an elevated rest with my recurve, so I can't really give you any insight into advantages/disadvantages with it.
