Getting ready to start the project. I love big power tools! I took off about 1/4" width of the shelf and 5/8" length. The whole bow has been sanded down with 220 grit sandpaper. Ordered the inlay. The next step is to install it when it arrives. Strung it up for some testing and it is shooting fine. I'll have to get a new Bear Hair Rug and Plate. I'm just using Velcro for now. I had to trim the wood inlay down from 3" round to 2" round. Next in the process is tracing the circle and cutting out the riser to make the inlay flush. Then I'll have to glue it in. The inlay is only about as thick as your thumbnail. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Wait until it's done. I still have a lot of work left to do. I'm going to lower the shelf about another 1/8"-3/16" and remove some stock off of the back of the riser above the grip. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Well the shelf is finished, the riser stock is trimmed and the inlay installed. Cutting the window to install the inlay was enough to tighten anybody's sphincter. I haven't installed an inlay in 40 years and that wasn't on a curved bow window. Next is final sanding then polyurethane application. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

VA Bowbender, please excuse my ignorance but what was the reason for modifying the shelf and riser on this bow? Just a curiosity question not a challenge.
Personal preference in my shooting style. The shelf was very wide and flat with no crown. Also it would wear out feathers and rug rests very fast. It was quite high off the hand and I wanted it lower. Removing a bit of stock from the riser is for weight and balance. Doing this is akin to what Fred Bear used to do when he got a new bow. It is common knowledge that the first thing he would do is take a rasp to a bow. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
