Gonna try making my first Warf bow. I was given a compound that I have no use for. I'm gonna put Samick Sage limbs on it. I'll post more as things progress. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
I did the same thing with my old school compound. Make sure that you don't get too heavy of limbs. That's the mistake I made. I got the 50# limbs and should have gone with the 40 or 45#
I plan on using 40# limbs. My days of shooting over 50# @28" are way behind me now. At my DL a 60" 50 # bow gives me about 56# and that's my limit. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
It's been a growing practice for awhile. From what I've read the older compounds lend themselves better to warfing. It seems you don't want the grip rear of the limb pockets. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I just did an online purchase of the limbs. They should be here approx Fri. I'll do a photo install. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Well I broke down the bow to the bare riser. I put a ratchet strap on to take tension off the string, cables and cams. Then I removed the retaining clip on the top axle. I then knocked the axle pin out of the limb. This freed the cam and the string and cables fell away. Then I slow released tension on the ratchet strap to take all tension off the limbs. After that the limbs just pulled right out. I measured the limb pockets and it looks like the new Sage limbs "SHOULD" fit right in. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
If the new limbs don't fit quite snug, you can cut some leather to line the pocket. I used an old boot.
If anything it might be too snug. I might have to sand/trim the inside of the pockets. I'll see when the limbs get here. The measurements appear that the limbs "SHOULD" fit right in...I hope. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
The limbs arrives this afternoon. I had to trim a nib out of the pocket before installing the limbs. They just bolted right in after that. It made a 62" bow. I stole a string off my Pearson Colt, put a flipper rest on it, set the fistmele and took it out back for a test drive. The bow shoots REALLY well. I find that I shoot high with the elevated rest but I'll adjust. This was a nice, quick, cheap and easy project. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'm not used to shooting off an elevated rest so I'm shooting high. Also because it's cut past center tuning is becoming a challenge. I think I'm going to have to do one of two things. 1) bolster the rest out more or 2) create a shelf to shoot from. The bow is shooting and grouping well at 20 yards just not where I'm looking. Make an epoxy rest... I do this on my bowfishing bows. Basically build it up in the shelf and press the arrow in at the centershot position to make a slot. Super easy and really cheap
