Rocket man since they came out over 15 years ago. Countless deer pigs and elk. Great head never fail amazing penetration great blood trails. I currently shoot the sidewinder.
let us (or me at least) know how they do - they look like a cool idea, but you'd think that if they worked as well as advertised with that simple of a design premise they would have been on the market years ago. Going with 100 gr GrimReaper 2" Whitetail Specials this year...Last year I used NAP Spitfires and hit a doe quartering to a touch back, but found my arrow and what looked like lung blood right away. I let her go overnight, took to the trail the next morning. I think the guts/fat plugged the hole on the bottom as the blood petered out after about 100yds; and I lost her after about 250 yards. She never bedded down once during that stretch. Tough luck on a not-perfect shot, but maybe a bigger hole would have made the difference. I'm not saying the fault was with the head; I'm just saying an extra half-inch cutting diameter might have been enough to correct my bad shot.
I shoot Slick Trick Magnum's 100 Grain and absolutely love them. Great penetrating power in case you hit shoulder blade and the deer never run far. My fiancé actually shot a buck in the rear quarters (long story) and it made it 6 yards. Only complaint is limited blood trail for the first 20 to 40 yards , but after that it is an impressive blood trail. There have only been two broadheads I have thought about switching to. NAP Bloodrunner - There are some impressive holes on Bow Hunt or Die, but I am hesitant to shot an expandable. The other is made by Interloc. I found out about these at Deerassic Classic 2012 last year. The thing about these that made me very curious is they can be tuned to each arrow. There is a allen head screw in the back of each broadhead that lets you turn the blades. This lets you turn each set of blades that way they are the exact same on any arrow. It is a wonderful idea and I honestly have come close to switching for that benefit. Hope this helps.
Rage in the Cage for me as well I shot my ten pointer with one didn't run out but 25 30 yds and dropped dead right there in front of me but im with donut on the comment. "I will try something new this season im thinking NAP Killzones
Just picked up a pack of Ramcats for the first time. They seem to shoot well but Im concerned about the blades. They seem really thin and not very durable. Never hunted with them but thats my initial observation. I really like the QAD Exodus heads and the Grim Reaper Hades. I have both those heads flying like field points.
I shoot slick tricks, can't go wrong with any of them. Easy to tune and deadly!! Have shot mechanicals in the past with success, but prefer the consistancy of fixed blades. JMHO
Ramcats for the the third year now.....still carry a Slick Trick Mag for the occasional coyote. Shot the Tricks from the time they hit the market and when I tried the Ramcats; they simply shot better and got better penetration than the Tricks.
I've been shooting Slick Trick Magnums for a while, thinking about trying out the Slick Trick Grizz 2 or Killzones.
NAP Killzone and Bloodrunners both 100g 2 blade. I have also shot rage and Montecs and like these much better.
