I think this was discussed at length in the Vegas thread. You don't have to have a bump stock to rapid fire a semi-auto firearm. All you need to do is watch a YouTube video and practice a little. If the article is true and Trump is asking the Justice Department to ban them, I think he's just trying to get in good graces with the population that doesn't like him. He'll score points with the "Libs" if they are banned but in reality, it won't eliminate mass shootings from happening.

Banning liberals from touching a gun would be a better option. Most are too stupid to trust with a hammer, let alone a gun.

I'll be honest. I wouldn't be against making them Class III. Dumbest things ever IMO.

I'm 61 years old. How have I lived this long without having a bump stock fire arm?

Will never happen under Trump. Just him telling some people what they want to hear. Will be forgotten about in a couple weeks.

Won't go anywhere. All politics to appease a few. Just like that group of kids going to Washington on politicians money. Pres. Trump will listen to them and the day will go on. 90% of them have no idea the AR in AR15 stands for. they will tell you Automatic Rifle or more common Assault Rifle. They want it banned but what do you do with the thousands that are already out there? New idiots will latch on to it and give it a lot of attention.

Oh it will go somewhere IF politicians fear they will lose their seat, my fear has always been we would reach a tipping point with school shootings. Where general public has had enough and they will demand change.

I've shot thousands of rounds from an ar15. Shot it on the move, etc. A trained lunatic can exact huge amounts of damage with that gun. Virtually no recoil and great accuracy. Bullets shooting through and through and hitting multiple targets with large magazine capacities. Dangerous as hell.

That being said, I am torn on this issue. And to be cheesy, I'd like to just have a buck knife and maybe a black powder at a house in the woods. All this ratcheting up of dangerous guns and crap nuts. Once again, that being said, I am torn on this issue big time.

    On a side note...
Buddies and I just got a massive haul of heroin cut with fentanyl off the streets the other day. Fentanyl in powder form is deadly. Find an air vent on a soft target....drop it in. Bam. An entire school seizing or dead in minutes. Can't stop everything from killing you....it will never end. We have lunatics in this world and we need men who will have no problem stopping them if the threat presents itself.

I've long said IF there was a way to blink and all firearms were gone, I'd sign up for that. I'm pretty dang good with my hatchet throwing and archery LOL

Trump signed a measure nixing a regulation aimed at keeping guns out of the hands of some severely mentally ill people, but now wants to ban bump stocks? Ok

Seriously when we talk about common sense, it's not the above sentence.

Just dropped my son off at middle school. New security measures in place. Can't even walk into the school without ringing a bell and then being first let into the office.

We live in an f'ed up society

My wife works at a school they have had the secured door for a year now. She will be the first taken out if there is a school shooting at her building. Being that she works at a 3-6 grade school the odds of a mass shooting there are smaller.

I am not even going to tell you what the cost is to have an armed(trained) guard at each door of Private School, and the camera system we put in.

That sucks Sota. Bad position. We brace ourselves here every day. Large high schools with thousands of kid's. Two college campuses in the county. One of the nation's largest malls. Within 30 minutes of DC. Matter of time until we will have a problem.

Have to train engaging a threat in a school. Lots of training and it is nice and all....until you realize your kids are in those schools.

We have police officers in all of our high schools and most middle schools. I pray they never have to respond to a real threat.
