    Hey guys,

Any of you use a treestand umbrella? I've had times on stand where its either raining or a blizzard when its unexpected. Even though my gear is water proof etc. it can be miserable sometimes. But like others, I like to be in the woods and thought getting one of these umbrellas would be nice.

I personally can see using it more during the rut when it starts snowing and you want to stay out. It would keep snow off you and your bow so nothing freezes up.

Any suggestions or ones I should look at? I see Hawk has one out?

I just have the cheap one from Fleet Farm. Works good enough and is replaceable cost wise if it gets messed up. Its one that you would want to take down everytime and only use when needed. I know there are several out there that are larger that you are supposed to be able to leave up but a good heavy wet snow and I can't see it lasting.

I have a cheap one also. It works and they are easy to set up. Also it's nice to get out of the rain. The only thing is every time I used it ( maybe 5 times ) I never saw a deer, it's probably has nothing to do with the umbrella and more to do with hard rain I was hunting in. Mostly now I just use a good rain jacket and leave the umbrella home.

In my experience, it very seldom rains or snows straight down so all the umbrella would do is stop dripping off leaves or branches above me, because at the height it would need to be setup on the tree to give me clearance when I stand, it would provide next to no protection from the weather.

I've found if the wind is blowing a little bit everything stays dry except for your knees. If its blowing hard it won't help much. Guess I'll hunt a blind or build a fire at the cabin instead. those all day soft rains that deer really move in it really helps a lot.

I used one to try to stay dry and keep my camera dry while self filming two seasons ago. It did the trick, but was kind of loud when the rain hit it. I didn't see any deer while it was raining, but I did end up taking a doe shortly after the rain stopped.

Thanks guys. It seems about every couple years during the rut you get that day you really wanted to hunt and its a dead quite day, very dreary with a drizzle and you know the deer will still move in it. Thats the type of day that I want to have the umbrella for. Just makes it a little more comfortable not getting soaked etc. Atleast it makes sense to me.

Those days where it pours out and its windy and crappy, those are the days i stay home and hunt afterwards.

I just use a regular umbrella. Works just fine. I have a slightly damaged one that I'm going to cut out one of the sections so it stays close to the tree. No need to spend a bunch on something you may use rarely.

Blue is one of the worse colors you want when hunting deer. Horrible idea.

I've got a Cheapy too. I think it's an Allen. It doesn't keep you bone dry but I'll take all the help I can get from getting completely soaked. One time a storm was rolling in and I had it. My buddy didn't. It poured pretty steady for about an hour or two. Then the sun came out and it was nice. My buddy went back to the truck to warm up and dry out. I killed a doe. :tu:

This was the only one I had on the truck that day, I've since used a black one. Still had a doe and 3 yearlings walk under me, I don't think deer understand the concept of an umbrella. Also, for some reason, I thought these tree umbrellas were $40...guess I should have looked harder.

I use a cheap black umbrella that I cut a section out of and just tie off to the tree. Works well enough, I couldnt justify spending even $20 on something like that...
