So people that risk their lives to keep Americans safe will not be getting paid while the democrats hold out for a group of people who's issue has not been addressed with a bill put forward by the democrats, does not have anything to do with the budget and does not expire till March while they still get their paychecks. Beyond stupid.
I see there is a women's march assembling, Trump has got more fat women out exercising than the former first lady ever did. I am sorry to seem to be so pro Trump but the Chinese hate Trump, so does North Korea, Iraq and Iran, al quida, el shabob, the liberal mainstream media, Chuck Shumer, Nancy Pelosi, Elizabeth Warren, NPR too so how can I not see something good in the elected President?
Yep, you know you're doing everything right when these types of scum balls are in literal hysteria and foaming at the mouth. Trump is the greatest thing since sliced bread.
I had a guy tell me what a pig Trump was over the porn star payment. I asked was he a John Edwards kind of pig or a Clinton like pig? All the piggery going on in Washington DC and Chuck Shumer still can't in on the action.
with the exception of Paul and possibly Lee; those who refused to vote for the CR have chosen to represent illegal aliens instead of the citizens who voted for them. Beyond disgusting. HOWEVER- the fact that a CR is even needed in lieu of an actual budget is nearly as disgusting- how Ryan and McConnell are "leadership" is beyond me. Beyond what one thinks of a DACA-type amnesty in theory; THERE IS NO DACA DEADLINE. A whack-job 9th circuit judge issued an injunction against ending DACA and the administration appealed it to the SCOTUS. Appeals won't be heard until Feb. 20 at the earliest (that's assuming the SCOTUS takes the appeal rather than remanding it back to a full 9th circuit panel.) If McConnell doesn't change the Senate rules to end the filibuster there is -0- chance a budget gets passed. Until that happens we are in limbo (or more accurately- Purgatory.)
I see on foxnews that McConnell is saying there is going to be a 1AM vote Monday to end the "shut down". Since literally nothing has changed since Friday; this is a potential indication to me that he is going to use another Dem filibuster as a reason to change the budget rules to "simple majority". If I am right; THANK GOD. I am sick of the Senate pretending to be a genteel club of friends with minor disagreements. The Dems have given themselves 100% to a rabid pack of mongrel disaffected special interest groups. There are no more "conservative" Dems in the Senate. Manchin is the closest; and even he refuses to condemn the obvious nutjobs now running the Dem base. Again, I am not on here to argue immigration; although I imagine you can figure out largely where I lie on that issue. That being said; other than enforcement funding for that specific slice of the pie; immigration has NOTHING to do with the federal budget; and even then mitigating the costs of illegal immigration is a net surplus for the overall cost to the taxpayers of America. We must have immigration reform- but that is a separate issue than a full budget. Change the rules, McConnell. Pass the budget. Then negotiate immigration; before you lose the majority forever. The minute the Dems hold a majority they are going to amnesty every damn illegal in the country; and then the Republic is lost. Think on this- Trump lost the popular vote by appx. 3 million (pretty much all because of California.) If the estimated "11 million illegals" (which is probably 2-3x that amount) gain citizenship due to Democrat amnesty which way do you think they are going to vote? I realize that not all of us on here are Republicans. Hell, I'm not either. But the majority of us on here at least lean conservative on principal if not on specific policy. If Dems get what they want on amnesty our country is GONE.
The only reason the Senate did not pass the CR is politics pure and simple. Schumer and his party felt that they could use the issue and chose to not vote for the CR because history has shown, despite the absence of facts, that the Republicans have always been blamed for a government shutdown. They have been successful in the past with that narrative and think that they can score points this time by doing the same. I think it has absolutely nothing to do with caring about DACA or the "dreamers" but rather about political expediency. The media will portray the Republicans as the bad guys and they will take a few lumps over it. I am not sad over a shutdown, I think there is way too much government anyway and we could do without about 50-60 percent of it. Duplicate agencies, state agencies and federal agencies administering the same industries and laws. There has got to be a better, more efficient way to run a government. If a business was operated the way the government was they would never survive for even a short period of time. Agree with the posts that it is a shame that we have come to this point with our elected officials. It's a sad commentary of life in America.
FYI - Military has been paid on all past shutdowns. I do agree that all of congress no pay until they fix this mess.
