Let me start off by saying that I have hunted the Shawnee National forest for many years now on and off. With lots of private land that intermingles within the SNF I am looking for a good detailed map that shows public and private land lines. I have always kinda stuck to the same spots the past few years but now I'm ready for a change. Any help on map information would be great thank you.
I just downloaded the OnX maps. I do not see where it breaks down the public and private land in detail. For example I see SNF and I know that there is private land in this spot that I'm looking at but there are no property lines on the map that show private property it all say SNF. Any experience with OnXmaps? Thanks for the help.
OnX is all I use. Public lands should be clearly marked and shaded in green. It works in conjunction with your phone's GPS and lets you know exactly where you stand, even in the absence of a cell signal. Did you purchase the Illinois subscription? If not, that would be the problem. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yea my family has property that buys up to the Shawnee and we have problems all the time. People grab the generic maps and go where the green is. We've had people get downright irate with us when we've tried to calmly and rationally explain it to them Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
That's what I'm trying to avoid I do not want to trespass on someone else land. I do not live next to the SNF so I do a lot of scouting from maps.
Huntstand app also does for like 12 dollars a year Sent from my SM-G920V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Sorry I should have elaborated. Huntstand shows the public land the $12 it will tell you the owners of private land Sent from my SM-G920V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Yeah, I use HuntStand as well to find property owners, but I think Powderhook does a better job showing public land Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
