I live and hunt in Southern Illinois. This will be my first year turkey hunting and since I've developed my strong desire to hunt I have stayed true to bowhunting. My question is how to separate gobblers early. In Illinois we draw by week seasons and first season is next Monday through Friday. I have heard from a lot of those who went out in youth season to call or film that the birds are bunched up and don't know what they want. I drew both 1st and 3rd season. I am worried that first season neither my calling or decoys are going to work. I hunt on 70 acres of private land tucked in a national forest of public land. Is there any advice to give for someone looking to separate gobblers from the pack?
Any gobbler can be called in and any gobbler can be unkillable......Depends what day it is....All you can do is try....Would re ommend a hen decoy with a Jake 5 yards behind it....Good luck Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
