What does the significant other think of this new hobby? I will never forget my first project Scout The boots around the stick shift were rotted so I took them off. It was a friday night and the wife and I were headed to another couples house for a gathering, I wanted to take the Scout. We head down the driveway and I plowed threw a puddle and the wife and I got sprayed by water coming threw the holes in the floor. The warden was not impressed and it became that F'ing Scout from that day forward.
Got the 2.5 in it. Kinda wished had the 4.0 but won't be doin anything to crazy so guess won't matter. Well luckily or not depending how look at it don't have that to worry about. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
2.5 = 4.10 gearing. Most of the 4.0s only had 3.07 or maybe 3.55s in YJs (TJs were mostly 3.07.) Those 2.5s put out some decent torque and with those gears there is plenty of power to get up, over, and through anything a 4.0 can do. The 4.0 is a bulletproof engine and better for highway (much higher top end) but for off road or bombing around town the 2.5 is plenty.
Pump the brakes, use this to get an idea what gears are best for the setup. I have 5.13s in mine and it's just about perfect, I wouldn't mind going to 5.38, but I'll save that for when I actually get around to building it. http://www.grimmjeeper.com/gears.html
If you do decide to gear your axles, measure from the ground to the center of the hub and multiple by 2, that will give you your exact tire size.
I'm just talking about what was stock/OEM. The 2.5 with the stock 4.10s is a pretty capable rig. Even more trail capable than a stock 4.0 with stock 3.07s. My lifted TJ with the 4.0 and stock 3.07s was routinely out-crawled by bone stock (other than tires and lift) 2.5s. Many a budget TJ "build" starts with an old salvage YJ 4.10 axle swap. In my JKU I ended up with 4.56s which were awesome for both on/off road. But that was a totally different animal than a stripped down YJ.
Back at it ha. Guess it won't say jeep on the side anymore. And yea I'm not sure what all its got in it. Need to so some research. All got now is year and motor lol. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
There was alot of it. Not gonna lie when blood was spurting in a stream kinda freaked out little bit. Kinda forgot bout any first aid ever been taught for min and was like "I'm gonna bleed out." But once got to sink in shop and rinsed it off came back to reality. Worst part was wrapped it in towel as tight as could and had hand out truck window with my hand up and everyone met on road thought I was waving. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
my ex-wife referred to my TJ as "your side bitc4". Probably should have taken a cue that she thought I was fooling around so tit-for-tat was in order. toss up as to what was more expensive- the Jeep or the divorce? Don't want to know.
Well bout got passenger side ready to weld up and be done. Idk what was goin on but cut out piece to go on side quarter panel and couldn't get it to fit right for some reason. Idk what deal was, apparently couldn't read tape today ha. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Tore into the drivers side last night. Holy crap it was way worse than originally thought. First the whole quarter in between the wheel wells is covered in bondo. Then up were the rust is its been patched and fiberglass and that was all just slapped over the rust whole it looks like. So started sanding and grinding some of bondo off because wanted to make sure was rust underneath. Looked decent so wont haveta replace that. So that side is gonna be a job. nice. You seem like you know what you are doing but be careful sanding that crap. I hate to think how my lungs looked after not masking up a few years back. I was really sick for about a week.
Ha yea I been putting mask on. After first couple days working on it and not wearing one I could tell. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
