Well a compound anyway. As some of you know I had made the decision to switch over to the crossbow after this season. Well I sold my compound, Elite E35, last night, so for the first time in over 30yrs I don't own a compound bow. I must admit that I felt a sense of loss and some sadness in letting it go. Even the other day I was checking out different bows on AT when it occurred to me that I don't shoot a compound any longer. I guess it's just a change in the season of life. Anyway, I thought I'd share those feelings with you guys 'cause I know some of you older guys will understand. Blessings........Pastorjim
Pastorjim, do what you need to do to make yourself happy, and to hunt healthy! No one in this world knows your body and what it can handle without pain other than yourself. Best of luck to you as you hunt next season with your new crossbow, and we all expect you to be posting great pics of you with your deer!! God Bless and stay healthy!!
Just hold your crossbow sideways it’ll seem the same as a compound bow Best of luck and look forward to seeing some deer down Sir
As long as the crossbow keeps you in the tree. That is what counts . Looking forward to seeing you next season with a deer down post .
Jim. What matters most is your happiness. If my shoulders go out or I simply get too old to shoot a bow I'll have to modify my hunting approach. If that means a crossbow I'll do it. I'm the one who does all the work for my hunting experience year round. I'll hunt any legal way I want. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
Just go sit in a stand for awhile, take in Ma Nature---then you will realize all is good, always works for me !
Pastor Jim, I don't like crossbows much, but if the time comes where it's a crossbow or the couch........then it is a no brainer! I'm sure you'll miss your compound, but I doubt your ailing shoulder will. IMO this is what crossbows are for (not that my opinion matters!). Stay in the woods doing what makes you happy.
You are still bow hunting in my book. Anything that keeps us in the woods is all good. I introduced my father-in-law to whitetail hunting at 70 years young and he is completely obsessed with it now. He uses a crossbow and enjoys the heck out of his bow seasons. I will not hesitate to hang up the compound and pick up a crossbow when the time comes. More power to you!!
