Minimum Draw Weight for deer hunting

    I agree to a point. But if they don't practice with higher weights they won't ever move up. If they have a minimum of 40# she had a ways to go. Practice practice practice. You can always lower the weight after practicing with a high one

    You can also pick up really bad habits shooting higher poundage.

    My son really like 45# but after 10-15 shots, his form broke down. So I backed it down.

    He's still growing and getting stronger everyday so I'm not concerned at all with draw weight. He will get there but the low poundage does the job so there is no reason to change.


    With a full grown woman, they need do some excercises to build strength. There are products available. I believe lancaster archery sells them. They can use the bow but just be careful that they aren't getting overbowed. Much more enjoyable if it's easy to draw and hold for them.

    A deer at 20 yards broadside will be dead with a 30# bow using a fixed head like Magnus. Just know the limitations and only take a broadside shot and you will be fine.
