I'd like to get a cellular trail cam and would prefer it to run on verizon. What are the best options as far as reliability to cost? I will not spend $400 on a trail cam.
Spartan GoCam's are the best hands down. They have verizon ones on eBay for 399.00. I'm getting my third one. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
I have a Spartan as well. I'm not sure what the other options are in that price range. I have been very satisfied so far. There is a variety of service contracts available for a reasonable price. If I get another one it will most likely be a spartan.
I've got two, a Stealthcam GXW and a Spypoint Link S. The Spypoint is over $400 and the Stealthcam can be had for about $250, although I'm unsure if you can get the Verizon network for the Stealthcam. They, wireless cams, are great but as you know, much more expensive. I too have heard great things about the Spartan Go-Cam and if I bought another wireless cam I would look closely at these. One thing I will say for the Spypoint is that it has a built in solar panel that really works great. Mine has been out for three months and the battery indicator is still reading full. I bought the Moultrie modem recently for $150 since I already owned a Moultrie camera. Works with Verizon network I like it , but you have to attach the camera and the modem to the tree. A little extra bulk to set up, but once it's set up it works great. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Asked PastorJim this on another thread about stealthcam, but how are the batteries life with the Spartan?
In my Spartan GoCams a regular set of energizer aa will last a little over a month. They will last longer if you turn realtime off. I made external battery boxes for mine. Cost about 20 bucks each and last over 3 months. Of course battery life depends on how much activity and if it's day or night. Sent from my SM-T537V using Tapatalk
Mine has been out 2 months to the day and is still going. I run energizer lithiums in all my cameras.
Who offers me the ability to add the cam as a line to my existing Verizon plan? I'd pay more up front if I am saving on the back end.
Pretty sure that any cam that will operate on the Verizon network can just be added as an extra data only line. Blessings..........Pastorjim
I wasn't sure because the only one I found that listed that as an option is the Spartan cams. Everyone else is trying to sell you a subscription plan.
You can do this with the Spartan. I wasn't able to because my phone is through my work. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

How many photos (and which cam) would you guess you are able to send from your cellular camera on a set of batteries?
I'm no fan of Cuddeback but have you seen their new Cuddelink system? No monthly service plans to deal with. Cabelas has the cameras for $200. System looks pretty neat, especially for areas like mine where cell service is worse than terrible. http://www.cabelas.com/product/Cudd...20&gclid=CImGo4f_t9YCFSMJfwodVUcBkA&gclsrc=ds
I added my spartan gocams to my Verizon plan. 5 buck a month for each. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
My spartan has sent just over 500 in just over two months(and its still going). I'm using mine to monitor areas I don't want to disturb (bedding areas/sanctuary areas). If I was going to put it over a high traffic area/feeder etc I would look at some external source of power.
Thanks for the help, I went with the verizon blackout gocam. I ordered the external battery cord and already have the parts to build a 6v battery box. Any tips, tricks or info on this cam would be appreciated.
The best tip I can give you is to go to chasingame.com forums. All the info and Spartan staff will chime in to answer any questions. I did just buy a pelican 1120 case to reduce the size of one on my cam external battery boxes. Perfect fit. I have another older pelican 1100 case for the other one. Welcome aboard you need to sta rt saving up for your next one. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
