What can i go get from Lowes or Home Depot that would make the best glue for inserts? I've read mixed reviews about super glue.

    That ^^^

Super glue will hold but it gets brittle and if it takes a hard hit will break. Two part epoxy is a little flexible and won't break as easy.

I use the gorilla glue clear gel. It does a good job, but like anything you use, it helps to prep it before you glue

what's the proper way to prep? Should i just alcohol and a q tip to clean it or should i use a wire brush first to give it a rough surface?

While at Home Depot to Lowes pick up a can of Denatured Alcohol. I use a brass brush to rough it up inside and then clean out with a Q-tip with denatured alcohol. After I finish them all I go back with a dry Q tip until it comes out clean. Overkill maybe but it works for me.

Gorilla glue gel is what I use, inexpensive and holds up well

Loctite Ultra Control Gel is what I use on inserts and vanes. I’ve never had one come out just shooting into a target. I’ve had them come partially out after smacking against a block wall in my basement but still had to use a drill bit to get them out the rest of the way. Just what works for me

My basement door has caught quite a few as well. Patched it up with steel stick and moved my target away from the door. So then if I would get a pass through I started hitting block, so I set up a small wooden table behind it. I just need to buy some new targets. Lol

I use a 2-Part Epoxy. I like it because it's a little slightly more flexible than super glue, etc. so its less likely to crumble from impacts over and over. A 5 min. cure should be ok if you work efficiently. You don't need a ton but it helps to make up a bit more than you think you'll use so you aren't scraping the last bits from mixing pot and wasting time. I prefer the gel style super glues for my fletchings.

I just bought some easton quickset insert glue. But now i just have to wait for the new arrows to come and see how i compares to the 2 part epoxy. The 2 part works great if done right, i had 6 arrows done by an archery shop and had about a 75% failure. bought a new dozen and did them myself and i havent had a single one come loose.
