Ok all looking for ideas on how to make my summit viper quieter with out adding weight. I have read filling the hollow tubes with "great stuff" foam works. If you have done it how did you do it? did you drill holes in the tube? Does tape help? Also thinking about getting rid of the seat and making a mesh one out of P-cord or something. Any ideas there?

What noise is it making? Creaking? Or are you trying to eliminate any metal clanging?

Get some 1” foam pipe insulation from Home Depot. Split it lengthwise so that it unfolds. Zip tie it around the hollow tubes.

Look up stealth strips. I use them on my summit open shot. Anywhere there is metal on metal contact I put some on. The tree stand is deadly quiet now.

I did this and hated it. Made it harder to pack.

Here is what worked best for me.

Camo hockey stick tape...( MUST be hockey stick tape) silences the hollow tubes amazingly.

I tried the great stuff foam before I put hockey stick tape on it and it worked ok, the hockey stick tape eliminates the need for foam.

I got rid of the factory arm rests, they are junk.

Hazmore seat!!! The foot platform is HUGE!!!
The seat slides out of the way effortlessly and silently. Almost as comfy as the stock seat, makes it so much easier to climb too. Also cuts weight down by a pound.

If you haven't done so yet... an Absolute must is the third hand archery stabilizer straps, (cannot stress these enough)and third hand bow holder.

Also suggest Molle II shoulder straps AND Molle kidney belt

The kidney belt takes the weight of the stand and transfers it from your shoulders to you waist... absolutely amazing difference, your neck and shoulder will LOVE you for it!!

I cant imaging how much easier climbing would be with that bow holder and those straps seem way better too, but 20 bucks for the straps and another 20 for the bow holder...I need a new job

Do you just leave the shoulder straps attached to the platform?

    Yes.

It will be he best $40 you will spend!!! I would never use a climber again without the straps.

I have to second the motion for third hand stabilizer straps and bow holder! Makes a climber ROCK SOLID. Third hand archery has some excellent products, and they are super nice people. Jim, the owner, is a great guy and always ready to answer questions

Thanks everybody! Swamp I checked your stand out on your thread when you were selling it. Great ideas. I have looked at the stabilizer strap just never pulled the trigger and I honestly gave up on the bow holders after one I picked up from cabalas that was supposed to be universal did not fit. I just figured the tubing on this stand would not accommodate guess I was wrong
Hockey tape I have. The seat and carry straps might just show up at me door step very soon. Thanks again for the ideas .

Do not try and climb with your bow in the holder like a video they have indicates. You will regret it the moment you watch your bow fall. Do not ask me how I know.

But, the bow holder is great once in the stand. I wouldn't own a climber with out the one from third hand archery.

I've used that bow holder for 5+ seasons, I've had quite a few mishaps being clumsy while climbing....

How on earth did your bow fall out of that holder? You must be that one guy it happened to... it holds the bow so securely I don't even give it a second thought.

I'm Not trying to be a jerk, lol!

    How did it happen?

I guess I didn't have my bow leaning forward enough and when I picked up on the top section to make an adjustment, the top section leaned slightly to the left (side the bow was on) and over she went. 17ft down. Bye bye. Broke an arrow and a rest.

Bad bad feeling watching your bow fall. I still use the holder. I love it actually.
