I do it because I enjoy it, I enjoy habitat improvement as much as sitting in a stand as strange as that may seem to some. My feeling on food plots is that I get more out of my TSI and hinge cutting projects but they still have there place for habitat improvement. I should hunt them more but food plots get burnt out so fast, spook deer out at the end of a hunt and sightings seem to drop off on them if there is other food available.

I have some Dunston Chestnuts in shipping right now, cant wait to see how they perform in the long term future!

I passed on small bucks and does in my food plots but have killed a doe that was heading from one plot to another. I mainly plant food plots to try and hold deer on my land.

I killed a few in our big plot before it was a plot - now I don't hunt deer there anymore though I will whack a couple turkeys during the fall season and predator hunt there. Get most deer on thier way to the plots though.

Just in the last three seasons, I've killed my biggest archery buck standing in my clover/brassica plot, missed two others (one of which was standing exactly where the aforementioned buck was one year later, and I shot a solid 8 point from it in rifle season two years ago. My uncle took an 8 of it the season before that. All in a little 3/4 acre plot:)

No, but only because I have been too conceited and arrogant thinking that shooting deer OUT of a food plot would be too easy. :bash:

Shot a buck and a doe last year, both heading directly into plot I planted. Buck was about 3 yrds from it and doe was about 5 yrds from it. How do I answer your poll? They weren't 'IN' plot, but heading into it...

I worked my butt off all spring last year to put in a clover/chicory plot right in the middle of the woods. AKA kill plot

My brother kills this one, with me watching, on his first ever deer hunt. He was coming into one of the many scraps that run along the edges of this plot. Technically he wasn't going there to eat, but having the plot brought many deer through the area which equaled the scrap line.

It was worth all the effort and now this year all I have to do is mow the plot. This was my first food plot success.

I prefer to hunt in the woods, and since I don't have any food plots in the woods I don't hunt them much. I killed a nice 7 point headed to a nearby food plot last January, but never got one while actually hunting over a food plot. Killed a bobcat in one thought! :biggun:

Crop fields, yes... Food plot, no. I've killed pigs out of food plots though.

Just a doe, mostly do it to hold deer. Also I don't like to hunt right on them I like to hunt the trails going to them so i don't have to bump deer off the plot when I leave.

Yep, killed quite a few does out of my plots, as well as friends plots. Have had friends/family take quite a few as well from my plots. Had some close calls with good bucks too on occasion but I seem to only see them in plots, and not kill them. I've never taken a buck (with a bow) in a plot but have passed quite a few and did take one 3 year old with a rifle several years ago.

I see far less bucks when close to bedding and heavy transition cover, but usually when I see them there I get a shot so when looking for antlers that's where I'm going to spend the most time.
