I was wondering what would be a good covering over my z7 wooden grip. Gets cold in the later months. I don't need it to fore say grip but to more less knock the cold down on my hand. I don't want anything that will ruin the paint job if takin off either. Thanks

I'm guessing you're referring to friction tape? That's what I used on my grip, works well. I also used it on my entire LW sit and climb for sound reduction. It has endless uses. :tu:

Tennis racket wrap is what you want. Get the thinnest they make to go over that bulky grip.

You could remove the original grip and then use tennis racquet grip as mentioned previously and use different sizes till you find what you like. You'll need a heat gun probly to get the glue going to get your orig grip off. Most likely.

Everybody has their own opinion in grip size. Feel. Etc. Have to try a few. Some shops sell Winn grip for fishing rods as well

One think I used to do on my PSE is take some some paracord 550, take the guts out and flat wrap the handle. Worked great for me and looked really good.

I use the self adhering wrap, similar to vet wrap. Doesn't leave a residue when you take it off.

I don't like anything sticky on my grip. I like my have to settle freely on the grip. I have used a hot pack taped with masking tape to the front of my riser where my fingers lay at rest.

I take my grips off the bow. I'll cut a little piece of cardboard to even the lip, then wrap em with tennis racquet tape from walmart.

20180305_210915.jpg This is mine wrapped, not very bulky at all. I love it. With the rx-1 I kept the original grou on it. The Mathews I usually take off and put slim cardboard on the sides

Are you saying you take the grip right off your mathews and put a couple pieces of cardboard on the sides then wrap it like that?

I like the tennis racket tape idea or I was thinking you could do a pretty cool wrap in paracord. If you wanted it to be a bit thinner, you could take the strings out of the inside too.

Only thing I would keep in mind is how the material is applied. I don't think I'd want to put anything on there that would leave a sticky residue if you wanted to take it off at some point.

I'm not sure I would like the paracord. Yes, I trace a piece of cardboard for the side plates on the grip. I've down it without, but too narrow for my liking.

Residue is a non issue. First the tape is on the grip...so that’s all your feeling and using. Secondly if you remove the tape just clean it off, pretty much anything will work....alcohol, goo be gone , soap and water .....it’s comes off. In fact you might find adhesive residue under many factory grips if you removed them.

Yea, I've always just removed the tape and put the grip back on.
